FindZip Ransomware Data Recovery

FindZip is ransomware that was first spotted in the wild in February 2019.

FindZip is written in the Go programming language. This Ransomware encrypts the victim’s files using AES-256 encryption.

How FindZip Ransomware infects a computer:

– Attackers usually spread FindZip Ransomware through email attachments or malicious links.

– Once the FindZip is executed, it will check for the presence of specific file types on the victim’s machine.

– FindZip Ransomware will encrypt the following file types: .txt, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .pdf, .jpg, and .png.

– FindZip will append the “. Findzip” extension to all encrypted files.

– This ransomware will then display a ransom note named “!How_to_back_files!.txt” which demands a ransom of 0.5 Bitcoin (BTC) for the decryption key.

What was the biggest FindZip Ransomware attack?

The biggest FindZip ransomware attack happened on March 6, 2019, and affected over 100,000 users in South Korea.

How to protect yourself from FindZip:

– Use a reputable antivirus and anti-malware software and keep it up-to-date.

– Do not open email attachments from unknown senders.

– Do not click on links in email messages from unknown senders.

– Backup your important files regularly. This will allow you to recover your files if ransomware encrypted them.

How to remove FindZip Ransomware:

– Use a reputable antivirus and anti-malware software to scan your computer for FindZip and other malware.

– If they infected you with FindZip, you can try using a ransomware decryption tool to decrypt your files.

– You can also restore your files from a backup if you have one.

Should you pay the ransom?

We do not recommend paying the FindZip ransom as there is no guarantee that you will get your files back. You may also be putting yourself at risk of identity theft by paying the ransom.

Is there a public FindZip decryption tool?

At this time, there is no public FindZip decryption tool.
